My skin has been looking really clear and smooth lately despite the very stressful time I’m having. I haven’t been eating or sleeping very well so I’m putting it down to my skincare routine being on point these last few weeks.
I have been using the same products for months but without any real consistency until recently, and it has genuinely made a difference to my complexion. Here are the products I use and how I use them:
When I am getting showered, I grab my Boots Clear Skin Exfoliating Scrub. This product really works for me. It helps to clear and prevent nasty lil zits without drying or being too harsh on my skin, and the tube lasts a long time. I use about a £1 coin sized blob and then smooth it over my face. I don’t scrub it just yet. The only issue I have is the beads in the scrub are not environmentally friendly but when I use a natural scrub it makes my skin sore and pimply.
Next, I get my Olay Regenerist Cleansing Brush. Now this brush is actually my holy grail, it is GOLD. At £30, it’s waaaay cheaper than the Clarisonic and for me, after months of use, I can vouch for it. I use the fast setting (don’t press hard at all) and spend about 20 seconds on each area of my face, focusing particularly on my nose and fivehead (yeah it’s massive). Once the minute is up, I then let the shower stream wash off the remaining product and cleanse the brush. Done!
I have been wearing bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel Cream for about 6 months now, and I notice the difference in my complexion is huge. If I don’t use it for a week or so, my skin looks dull and my pores become more visible, but if I accidentally sleep in it, I wake up and have smooth, pore-less skin! The most important part of my skincare routine is at night time. I remove my makeup with a Simple Cleansing Face Wipe. So many girls I know use these (and I know a lot of their boyfriends/mates that like to steal them too) because they are exactly what they say on the tin and are convenient, and often available as a 3for2 deal. Once I have all my make up off, I splash my face with cool water and then dry my skin gently with a soft towel.
Okay, so it might not exactly be part of my weekly skincare routine when my skin is behaving well, but every now and then if I suffer a break out, I like to use my trusty Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Mask, and Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Night Gel. This range is one of my favourites and I’m always raving about it to anybody that needs some spot treatment. It has a soft smell but I like the subtle tea tree scent, and it is a light, non-greasy product that is gentle on the skin. The Night Gel really helps, especially if you’ve been overdoing the booze and fast food, redness is muted by the next morning. The mask is one of my best beauty buys EVER. It works instantly to reduce angry red pimples to tiny, calm bumps; minimises pores and gets rid of any oil without leaving your skin scaly and dry. Another product I use if I have dry skin is 100% Aloe Vera Gel. It does feel tight on the skin on application, but once washed off in the morning leaves your skin plump, soft and moisturised.
