It might sound a little bit sad, but I was absolutely desperate to capture a photo of a famous London monument with the sunset behind it, and the most suitable option seemed to be St Paul’s, so a visit to Madison was soon on the cards. Maybe it was for my instagram, maybe I just really wanted to. I’m not sure, but the week I had it all planned out it rained every. single. day. In true London fashion, the British weather decided to do it’s thang.
Frantically checking Apple’s decidedly unreliable weather app, I realised that the Saturday was meant to be sunny between 4-5pm. Bloody perfect. Not only was that ideal for my photo but it nicely slotted in after the Blogosphere Magazine Valentine’s Tea Party event.
I really like One New Change and the Cheapside area, as you can imagine in the week it’s proper buzzy but at the weekend it is slightly more chilled but still somewhere with a really good vibe.
There’s usually a small queue to get in the lift up to Madison but that didn’t take long to get through. It was full inside and out and all the cushty seats were taken but we managed to get a good table on the terrace where we sampled a couple of cocktails and enjoyed the only sunshine we’d seen all week. I went for the Pornstar Martini (classic) and Mike had the Sex on the Roof (we’re not freaks I promise). Both were delicious and the perfect way to start the evening. Passionfruit is my favourite fruit and this was defo the right mix of tangy and sweet.
As the sun was starting to set, it was time to get some photos. It was a bit annoying to give up the table cos it was so busy (of course it was snapped up literally the moment I grabbed my glass) but it was time to get some pics.
How amazing is the sunset?!
I’m not very good at getting my photo taken so I felt a bit awkward and giggly which was only made worse when we were told off for taking our drinks out with us!
With our tails between our legs we plodded off to search for another area to sit. We struck gold and got an outdoor sofa. We got another round of drinks and then enjoyed the rest of the sunset.
What a wonderful way to spend the evening! Have you been to Madison? I wanna go back and try dinner next time.
